What is a domain name registrar?

It’s the place where you purchased your domain name. GoDaddy and NameCheap are common registrars.

  • If you already have an existing website with a custom URL (www.mybusiness.com)… then you have a domain name registrar. If you’re not certain what it is, we can look it up and help you regain access to it.
  • If you don’t have a domain name registered… we can help with that. If you’d like to do it yourself, we recommend NameCheap.com.

What is a web host?

It’s where your website files are stored. Your web host and domain registrar may be one and the same.

  • If you already have a website on Shopify or SquareSpace… then that service is your web host, but it is not compatible with anything else. If you’d like your website redesigned, you may need a new web host.

What is an SSL Certificate?

It’s a inexpensive and effective website security measure that protects your customers’ data and can also benefit your search rank.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

Why is it important to have the website host, domain name registration, and SSL certificate in my name?

This way you fully own your website — both its URL (www.businessname.com) and the files that make up the site. We provide all the necessary logins to you in a spreadsheet, so you can have them for safekeeping.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
